Route of the Week - 26

July 17, 2017

This week's Route of the Week is the Route 26! The Route 26 is a city bus route that travels from Chelten Avenue Station to Frankford Transportation Center. Each day, this route carries 11,460 riders and makes 235 trips. The Route 26's service spans between 5:00a to 2:30a on both weekdays and weekends.

On its 11.5-mile route, the 26 connects with a number of other SEPTA routes. At Frankford Transportation Center, the Route 26 connects with the Market-Frankford Line and 16 other bus routes. At Olney Transportation Center, it connects with the Broad Street Line and eight other bus routes. The Route 26 also makes connections to Regional Rail at Chelten Avenue Station and Germantown Station.

Before it was a bus route, the Route 26 was a streetcar line. This streetcar line operated from Germantown to Fox Chase via Chelten Avenue until January 28, 1956, when buses replaced streetcars.
