Route of the Week - 28

This week, we're exploring the Route 28. This route runs from the Torresdale & Cottman Loop in Northeast Philadelphia to SEPTA's Fern Rock Transportation Center. Fern Rock is a transportation hub that serves as the northern terminus for the Broad Street Line, as well as a stop for three Regional Rail Lines and four bus routes. On a typical weekday, the Route 28 makes 68 trips and carries 1,882 riders.
Service was introduced on this route on January 31, 1982, replacing the Rhawn Street Branch of the Route T. Service extended from Fox Chase to Fern Rock on September 11, 1988, replacing the Route XA.
In addition to connecting with eight other routes at Fern Rock Transportation Center, the Route 28 also connects with the Fox Chase Line and Bus Routes 18 and 24 at Fox Chase Station. The Route 28 passes right by Manor College in Jenkintown, making it a great travel option for employees and students of the school.
