Route of the Week - 60

August 14, 2017

This week we’re shining a spotlight on SEPTA’s Route 60! The Route 60 is a former streetcar line and current bus route. This route runs primarily down Allegheny Avenue from Port Richmond to East Falls. On a typical weekday, the Route 60 makes 224 trips and carries 12,187 riders.

The Route 60 was established in 1906 as a trolley route known as the Allegheny Avenue Line. This streetcar line ran up and down Allegheny Avenue until buses replaced trolleys on September 4, 1977.

Today, the Route 60 bus follows nearly the same route as the Allegheny Avenue Line. Along its 5.3-mile route, the 60 connects with both the Broad Street Line and the Market Frankford Line. The Route 60 also makes connects with SEPTA’s Manayunk-Norristown and Chesnut Hill West lines.
