The Route G runs from South Philadelphia through West Philadelphia and into part of Montgomery County. It connects with Paoli/Thorndale Regional Rail Line and the Route 65 Bus at Overbrook Station. Overbrook Station is a short walk from Saint Joseph's University and is a popular station for students and nearby residents alike. The Route G loops at Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, so it is a convenient route for hospital employees. The Route G is one of only 11 SEPTA lettered bus routes.
