The Route XH travels on three major roads throughout it's 7.7 mile journey through Northwest section of the city. Those three roads are Cheltenham Avenue, Greene Street and Washington Lane. Along its route, the XH connects with the Chestnut Hill East Line at Washington Lane Station. The Route XH also connects with the Broad Street Line at Erie Station, providing easy access to Center City  and South Philadelphia.

Traveling between Broad & Erie and Cheltenham Ogontz, the Route XH serves a number of popular destinations including  Germantown Friends School, the Drexel School of Medicine and Cheltenham Square Mall.
