Are You an Early Adopter?

The transition to SEPTA Key is a positive step but it will be a big change.

Based on the experience in other cities, we’ve learned that a smaller initial roll out will enable us to better prepare everyone and manage our transition to this new technology. So we plan to expand our testing program by adding up to 10,000 Transit customers - willing to retire their magnetic stripe TransPasses, tokens, or cash and begin using a new SEPTA Key Card loaded with a Weekly or Monthly TransPass.

This expanded testing will be called the Early Adopters Program and it begins on Monday, June 13, 2016 at these locations:

Market-Frankford Line:

  • 69th Street Transportation Center

  • 52nd Street

  • 30th Street

  • 15th Street/Dilworth Park

  • Erie-Torresdale

  • Frankford Transportation Center

Broad Street Line:

  • Olney Transportation Center

  • Erie (South Mezzanine)

  • Cecil B. Moore

  • Dilworth Park

  • Walnut/Locust

  • Snyder

1234 Market Street:

  • Lobby Kiosks

  • SEPTA Sales Office (Lobby) Open Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

While we’re limiting the number of places where Transit Customers can get a SEPTA Key Card, everyone who joins this program will be able to use it for travel on any of our Buses*, Trolleys (Routes 10, 11, 13, 15, 34, 36, 101, & 102), Trackless Trolleys, and the Market-Frankford, Broad Street, and Norristown High Speed Lines* (*Additional fare required when using a TransPass on premium fare routes).  SEPTA Ambassadors and Revenue and Transportation personnel will be out at these stations to introduce customers to the SEPTA Key program and the new Fare Kiosks.

We will be publishing more SEPTA Key Updates as we work toward the June 13th launch. SEPTA Ambassadors and other SEPTA personnel will be out at these locations, when we launch, to answer questions about the SEPTA Key Program, provide information on how to become an Early Adopter, and how to register your new Key Card for protection against loss or theft.

Once we start the Early Adopters program, your feedback using the SEPTA Key Card, reloading fare products, the overall performance of the system, and general impressions will be very important to assist us as we roll out more features of the Key program, refine our communication efforts, and identify possible program modifications. We will be providing a comment form on our SEPTA Key micro-site and we invite you to use to share your experiences and observations. Your support and contributions will play an important part in building the future of fare payment at SEPTA.
