One Million Quick Trips

July 13, 2017

SEPTA riders are making the switch — and a “quick” one at that — to the Quick Trip fare option. Since September 2016, almost one million single ride Quick Trip tickets have been sold at SEPTA Fare Kiosks.

A Quick Trip is a disposable magnetic stripe ticket that you can swipe at turnstiles on the Broad Street and Market-Frankford Lines. Available only from Station Fare Kiosks, a Quick Trip is a single ride fare, for one (1) person, (no transfers). It can be only be used at the station from where it is purchased. Buy it there, use it there. It also must be used on the day it is purchased.

Quick Trips do not offer a discounted fare - it's the same as paying cash ($2.50) but what's great is they give riders the option to purchase their fare in the station without worrying about having a token or exact change beforehand. Plus you can use a credit or debit card at the Fare Kiosk to purchase a Quick Trip.

In April 2017, SEPTA expanded Quick Trip sales to Regional Rail, installing fare kiosks at each Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) terminal stop, for travel between PHL and anywhere on the SEPTA Rail system. These Quick Trips range in price from $6.75 to $9.25.

We sell an average of 5,000 Quick Trips per day. As of Monday, July 10, 2017, we recorded 981,825 Quick Trips. Which means we expect to sell the one millionth Quick Trip on Friday, July 14!

To celebrate, we'll present one lucky customer with a special SEPTA Key prize packet, including a SEPTA Key card with a $100 Travel Wallet!

Stay tuned for more details (including place and time)!
