Free Rides Home

September 21, 2018

Thanks to a partnership with NJM Insurance Group, SEPTA will provide sports fans free rides home from NRG Station on the Broad Street Line after Sunday’s Eagles-Colts game. The Broad Street Line serves Lincoln Financial Field and other venues at the Sports and Entertainment Complex in South Philadelphia.

The free rides from NRG Station will begin at 3p and end at 7p. The free-ride-home program is aimed at offering a safe and convenient post-game travel option for fans.

NJM is a leading auto insurer and teen driver safety advocate in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The Company’s award-winning Teen Driver Safety Program has reached more than 125,000 students over the last five years and covers topics like distracted, fatigued and impaired driving. As part of the Company’s expansion into Pennsylvania earlier this year, the Program will soon be available at no-cost to high schools in the commonwealth.

“For more than 100 years, NJM has encouraged and promoted safety in the workplaces where our customers make a living, and on the roadways that lead them back home,” said Tracy McManimon, NJM Senior Vice President. “We know how passionate Philadelphians are about their World Champion Eagles, and we’re thrilled to partner with SEPTA on this public service to help keep fans safe. As we become a bigger part of the communities we serve throughout Pennsylvania, we look forward to more opportunities to bring our century-long commitment to safety to the hard-working people of this great city.”

SEPTA will add service for the game, which kicks off at 1 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field. A total of 10 Sports Express trains will be added on the Broad Street Line to supplement regularly scheduled service. Sports Express service will run every 10 minutes from Fern Rock Station from 10:10 a.m. until 12:20 p.m. Please note: Regular fares will apply for all Broad Street Line travel to the game.

As the end point of the Broad Street Line serving the Sports and Entertainment Complex, NRG Station is a key transit hub for SEPTA and its customers providing frequent, reliable service, and convenient connections for riders throughout the region. The Market-Frankford Line, SEPTA trolley and bus routes, Regional Rail and the PATCO High Speed Line all provide convenient connections with the Broad Street Line.

To speed their trips to the game, passengers are encouraged to load funds on a SEPTA Key card before their travel or purchase a one-way quick-trip ticket.
