Improved Service Levels on the Market-Frankford Line

February 6, 2020

New Transit Schedules for most Bus Routes, City and Suburban Trolley Routes, and the Broad Street and Market-Frankford Lines take effect February 23, 24 and March 8, 9 & 14, 2020.

In an effort to enhance service and adapt to growing ridership on the Market-Frankford Line, SEPTA is implementing a package of improvements that go into effect Monday, February 24, 2020.

As part of this initiative, SEPTA will eliminate A/B skip-stop service during peak travel times – meaning all trains will stop at all stations, at all times. The decision to eliminate skip-stop service was made based on a successful pilot program in 2018, and helps to address significant ridership growth.

In addition to the elimination of skip-stop service during peak travel, SEPTA will also increase service frequency on weeknights. We have seen growing demand during this period due to a number of factors including changes in work schedules for customers who commute outside of the traditional nine-to-five window.

The Market-Frankford Line will continue to operate with peak frequencies of four minutes across the peak travel periods, from 7a to 9a and 4p to 6p.

From 6p to 7p, frequency will improve from a train every 10 minutes to a train every 6 minutes!

From 7p-8p, frequency will improve from a train every 10 minutes to a train every 8 minutes!
