It’s Pride time, ISEPTAPHILLYers! 🌈

The Philly Pride Parade & Festival is Sunday, June 9, 2019.

The first official Pride Parade was organized in an impromptu fashion at the end of the 1980s and was intended to coincide with rally planned by the Lesbian and Gay Task Force at Love Park. It was so successful that community members met and started an organization (Lesbian & Gay Pride of the Delaware Valley, Inc.) whose goal was to produce a parade and festival at Penn’s Landing each year to continue the community outreach and visibility that was achieved with that one rally. That organization evolved into what we know today as Philly Pride Presents. And that first rally grew into the largest celebration of LGBT pride in the region, now attracting over 25,000 people each year.

The 2019 Philly Pride Parade starts at 11a in the heart of the Gayborhood at 13th & Locust. The parade procession makes its way east to the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing. The festival gates open at noon, and the parade procession should reach the Penn’s Landing Festival by approximately 1:30p. With over 150 groups/vendors - including SEPTA! - scheduled at the Great Plaza of Penn’s Landing, this will be Philly's largest Pride celebration ever — both parade and festival! Make sure to stop by the SEPTA table to learn about SEPTA's Diversity & Inclusion program. At SEPTA, we respect and value the diversity, uniqueness, and talents of our employees. If you would like to join a team where you can bring your whole self to the workplace, visit

We'll also have totes and buttons!!

It’s so easy to get to all of this on SEPTA. If you’d like to walk the entire parade route, gather in the Gayborhood. To get there - ride the Broad Street Line to Walnut-Locust, Market-Frankford Line or Trolley to 13th Street, or Bus Routes 9, 12, 21, 23, 42, or 45.

Skipping the procession and heading right for the festival at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing? No problem, you have options! Take the Market-Frankford Line to 2nd Street or Bus Routes 12, 21, 25, 42, 17, 33, or 48.

Wherever you start your festivities, make the day as seamless as possible. Avoid the lines for the kiosks, and get (or reload) your SEPTA Key beforehand online! If you’re unsure of how to do this, have questions about where to get a Key Card, what you can load onto it, how to reload it when it’s empty, click here.

And don’t forget – a SEPTA Key Card comes with Perks! There are SEPTA Perks all over the city (and in the counties beyond), including along the parade route. Check out this extensive list of places that offer discounts when you flash your SEPTA Key.

Enjoy the festivities… and happy Pride! 🌈
