Route of the Week - Route 49

February 21, 2020

Week of February 24 - February 29

This week, we're celebrating a birthday! Route 49 is celebrating its one year anniversary Monday, 2/24. The Route 49 operates seven days a week and offers frequent service. Peak weekday trips run every 15 minutes, with midday service every 20 minutes, and evening trips every half-hour. Weekend runs every 20 minutes midday, and 30 minutes in the morning and evening.

In the year since it debuted, Route 49 has become an important fixture in University City. It also has stops in the neighborhoods of Strawberry Mansion (psst, you've got Perks!), Brewerytown, Fairmount, Spring Garden, Logan Square, and Grays Ferry. And it serves Amtrak 30th Street Station and the Ben Franklin Parkway.

In the year since its inception, Route 49 has become a very popular route, carrying 3,137 people every day, Monday thru Friday. It's a reliable route for many college students, since it rolls past Penn, Drexel, and University of the Sciences.

When you hop the Route 49, there are so many possible interesting destinations! In fact we put together and entire list of places you can go on this route.

Whether you're heading to work, play, school, or anything in between, hop the Route 49 and let SEPTA do the driving!
