This week, we're checking out the Route 57! This city bus route travels from Whitman Plaza to Rising Sun & Olney or Fern Rock Transportation Center. For the majority of its route, the Route 47 travels north on 3rd Street and south on 4th Street. On a typical weekday, the Route 57 makes 207 trips. On Saturdays, it makes 104 trips and on Sundays, 102. On a typical weekday, the Route 57 carries 10,478 passengers and travels 2,815 miles.
Travelling between South Philadelphia and North Philadelphia, the Route 57 hits many different areas and neighborhoods on its route. It is a great way to get to the museums and landmarks in Philadelphia's Historic District and Old City. Some of these attractions including Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the National Museum of Jewish History, and the National Constitution Center. To celebrate Presidents Day this weekend, the National Constitution Center is offering special programming and FREE admission on Monday, 2/18.
