Tired of Unpredictable [aka rising] Gas Prices?

July 15, 2022

As gas prices remain high this summer, more people are turning to public transportation and other car alternatives (walking and biking).

For less than half of the cost of a gallon of gas, you can ride the Market-Frankford Line, Broad Street Line, Norristown High Speed Line, buses, and trolleys. And don't forget - if you're using Travel Wallet on your SEPTA Key card - you get one free transfer between buses, subways, and trolleys.

Regional Rail is also cost-effective – and convenient now that we accept credit cards ONBOARD Regional Rail trains. And parking is FREE at all SEPTA-owned lots through December 31, 2022!

And don't forget Seniors 65+ and Kids 11 & Under ride free on all modes of travel.

When you leave the driving to SEPTA - you're free to catch up on other things - like work, texts, that book you've been meaning to start, or that podcast you've been meaning listening to.

We're guessing we don't need to remind you that car ownership can be expensive. Besides the cost of gas, maintaining a car or truck from the wear and tear of the road can be a large expense. According to AAA, the cost of owning and operating a vehicle can be around $8,558 a year. The expense of gas, car insurance, car payments, and maintenance can really add up! Taking public transportation can alleviate the stress of car ownership and long commutes.

Just a few reasons why we encourage everybody to check out the affordable and convenient public transit options available throughout the city and region.

And why SEPTA is the way to go!
