Transit Driver Appreciation Day 2018

March 15, 2018

Can you believe it's been a year since you thanked your Transit Operator, Conductor and/or Engineer?

Boy, we hope not. But it has been a year since Transit Driver Appreciation Day. And while we trust that you appreciate these operators, conductors, and engineers that go above and beyond their duties everyday, it certainly doesn't hurt to set aside time to give them extra thanks.

You might not realize it - because so many of them make it look so easy - but transit operators, engineers and conductors don’t have an easy job.

For hours on end, these men and women work to keep a schedule, check fares, give directions, announce stops, assist passengers and more. All while safely maneuvering an extra-large vehicle through unpredictable traffic, detours, tough weather conditions and some really tight spaces. Sometimes without a bathroom break! Needless to say, they deserve our thanks for safely getting us where we need to be each and every day!

We also know it isn't always easy to get your thanks to them. Regional Rail Engineers and Subway/Elevated Operators are up front in the cab - out of view. And if you exit via the back door of the bus or trolley, you miss the opportunity to say thanks.

Until now.

Our latest contest offers you the chance to share your words of appreciation. It doesn’t have to be for a specific operator, engineer or conductor but if it is – we’ll make sure he or she gets the message! The top 11 entries will be selected for prizes. The Grand Prize is an April Anywhere TrailPass. Ten runner-ups will receive a SEPTA t-shirt. Contest ends 3/25. Multiple entries are welcome. Duplicate entries are not.

And don't think SEPTA isn't doing its part. Tomorrow, managers will visit SEPTA Depots, Stations, Districts, and Transportation Centers to personally thank operators, conductors, and engineers for all that they do to serve you - our customers.

So this Friday, March 16, please join us in honoring those trusted operators, conductors, and engineers that safely shuttle us around everyday!
