Franklin Square

Franklin Square is one of the five original open-space parks planned by William Penn when he laid out the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1682. It is located between North 6th and 7th Streets and between Race Street and the Vine Street Expressway.

How to get there

Get here on SEPTA! It's a short walk from Jefferson Station if you're coming via Regional Rail or 5th Street/Independence Hall Station on the Market-Frankford Line! Or hop Bus Routes 47, 47M, 48, or 57.

Things To Do

Escape the city’s hubbub and bask in an “aaaahhhh” moment at Franklin Square. One of William Penn’s five original squares - Franklin Square park is steeped in history and brimming with fun for everyone. Bordering Philadelphia’s Historic District and the Old City and Chinatown neighborhoods - the park offers visitors and residents seven acres of tranquil nature, the colorful Parx Liberty Carousel, and the one-of-a-kind Philly Mini Golf course - all centered around the beautifully restored fountain which was built in 1838.
