Henry the VIII’s former wives — all six of ’em — step out of his shadow and onto the stage in this electric Broadway production that channels 500 years of heartbreak into 21st-century empowerment. More than 40 of Philly’s thriving theater companies host shows and special events in neighborhoods throughout the city during Philly Theatre Week - from 3/23 thru 4/2. Some can’t-miss performances on the docket: Curio Theatre Company’s THE COMPLETE DEATHS, a hilarious mashup of every onstage Shakesperian death (Thursday & Friday), and a more serious production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest from Quintessence Theatre Group (Thursday through Sunday). The festivities kick off with a free rooftop garden party at the Kimmel Center on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Plan your trip here!

Phillies Season Opener Party With Budweiser

Science After Hours: Spectacular Spectacular

Franklin Institute

It’s a spectacular evening of after-hours fun on Thursday at The Franklin Institute as the hugely popular Science After Hours series returns for 2023. The 21-plus event features rapid-fire Bingo rounds led by funk musician Johnny Showcase, performances and hands-on lessons from the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts, beats from local drumline Positive Movement, and vintage short film screenings from Secret Cinema. Inside The Fels Planetarium, drag queen Iris Spectre leads a cabaret lineup of burlesque performances and dance numbers. Tickets include all of the aforementioned programming, access to the museum’s core exhibits and galleries, and a nifty lapel pin created specifically for the event. Leave the driving to SEPTA. Short walk from Suburban Station, hop Bus Routes 7, 33, 38, 48 or Trolley Routes 10, 11, 13, 34 or 36.

The American Revolution

From there - hop the shuttle bus to Subaru Park. Last train out of Chester Transportation Center leaves at 9:32 PM - so check out the bus schedules if you don't want to leave early!

Staying Power: Be Distinct or Go Extinct

This brand-new exhibit at the Philadelphia Zoo - open from 4/1 thru 10/1 - features 25 gigantic animatronic insects and dinosaurs, offering visitors a chance to examine the traits that allowed insects to survive long after their dinosaur pals kicked the bucket. Keep an eye and an ear out as these life-sized dinosaurs and super-sized insects move and communicate with curious guests. Note: There is an additional charge to access the exhibit. Get there on SEPTA Routes 15 or 38. And don't forget - you've got Perks! Like $2 off admission to the Zoo when you flash your SEPTA Key card.
